DIAMOND SAWS |
After
conducting extensive trials with marble, granite and other stones from various
sites in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Bhukhanvala introduced
circular Easi-cut Diamond Saws nearly two years ago in the Indian market with
principally five different bond systems. They found immediate acceptance, since
their use resulted in higher production and productivity, better quality and
lower production costs and at the same time ensured smoother and reproducible
operations with the available machinery. In course of time, many special bond
systems have been independently developed at their R&D centre to meet more
specific and rather stringent requirements on a case to case basis, and today
Bhukhanvala produces Easi-cut Diamond saws with more than 150 combinations of
time-tested bond systems, grit sizes and diamond concentrations not only for
marble, granite and sandstone but also for all types of refractories, graphite
and asbestos. In time, bonds have been developed even to suit individual
machines -be they foreign or Indian -so that they would realize their peak
efficiency. Today, Easi-cut saws are natural leaders and firmly implanted in
all segments of the stone industry.
Bhukhanvala now advances a step further and
introduces the frame saw for India's gigantic marble cutting industry as an
import substitution item using steel blanks made in association with
Mummenhoff, famous the world over for their premium quality. Specific bonds
have been developed to work with imported machines like BRETON, BRA,
KARL-MAYER. ARABUS, GREGORI etc. as well as for the common Indian machines.
Bhukhanvala's saws, be they circular or frame saws, are produced on
sophisticated imported equipment using only high purity raw materials. The
steel blanks for saws are imported and made from sheets/coils of special
quality Electric Furnace Steel. They are also properly tempered and tensioned.
For high stress applications, the slots in circular saws are specially laser
cut to prevent cracks and premature breakdown.
The saws are supplied in various bonds, grit sizes
and diamond concentrations to suit specific requirements. As a rule, however,
particulars of the bond, grit size or concentration are treated as strictly
confidential and not disclosed to the buyer / user. Truly, to optimize the
performance of saw segments for a specific job is no simple matter. Indeed, it
is quite complex involving a delicate balance between the bond system, the grit
size and the diamond concentration for a set of machine operating conditions
and hence the secrecy.
The circular saws are made both in normal (or
wide) slots and reduced (or narrow) slots. Generally, saws with normal slots
are used for granites, refractories and hard stones. This type of saw is
ideally suited for deep and slab cutting and gives a satisfactory finish of the
sawn surface. It also ensures optimum coolant feed and removal of the cut
material. Saws with reduced slots are generally used for marbles, ceramics,
glass and with materials having sensitive edges and corners. This type
guarantees precision cutting as well as clean edges on previously polished work
pieces.

Saw Specifications |

|
|
Saw dimensions are shown in Figure 1
and the various standard sizes are listed
in Tables 1 and 2.
|
|
|
The Easi-Cut 'LC' saws are provided with special
kind of laser cut slots to achieve the advantages
of low noise and higher cutting speeds.
They usually give 10 to 20% longer life. These are
high priced premium grade saws and are supplied
only after consultation

Rules For Saw Selection |
|
In selecting a circular saw for cutting stones,
rocks, refractories or other such materials, the following points must be
carefully considered:
i) The material to be cut
ii) Cutting quality and thickness desired
iii) Service life of the saw desired
iv) Machine characteristics
Only after properly considering the above, it is
possible to correctly decide the saw dimensions (i.e. diameter, type of slot,
segment thickness and depth of diamond impregnation) and the segment
specifications (i.e. the bond, diamond grit size and its concentration).
Primarily, the hardness and abrasivness of the stone or rock would decide the
segment specifications. At the same time, however, one must also consider
whether the saw is to provide basically a high output or a long service life.
Fast cutting saws naturally have a short life,
since a softer bond and/or a lower concentration is used. This type of saw can
be used satisfactorily only on sturdy and nearly vibration-free machines and
that too at high peripheral speeds only. Conversely, saws for a long service
life must operate at low cutting rates and require higher drive outputs.
Machines susceptible to vibrations and having somewhat lower peripheral speeds
could also be used with such saws. Briefly, a high cutting rate would result in
high production output and also high cost of saws, but at the same time low
wages and machine over-heads. In contrast, a long saw life would result in low
production output and also low cost of saws, but correspondingly high wages and
machine overheads.
Obviously, maximum economic efficiency can only be
achieved by a judicious balancing of high cutting rate with long blade life
ORDERING
When ordering for the first time, please let us
know the
i) Diameter of the saw and bore diameter required
ii) Material to be sawn
iii) Machine data such as Motor HP, Speed Range (RPM), Rate of Feed (m/min),
Flange Diameter and Make and Model No. of the machine
iv) Details of the saw used at present
For repeat orders, however, only (iv) need be
specified. it would be sufficient to give the Serial No. of the saw or the
Delivery No. or the Invoice No.
Please fill in the attached questionnaire form to
enable us to assess your requirements and problems so that we could provide
special attention and give such service that would enable your unit to function
uninterruptedly and efficiently, thereby increasing production and
productivity.
